meteor seen in leucadia

Meteor caught on camera from Leucadia

Posted on November 24, 2019November 28, 2019 by Staff

The above photo was sent to us by David Rubin of Leucadia, who was taking a post-sunset photo of Venus and Neptune from his deck and ended up photographing something really special.

This meteor is from the Leonid Meteor Shower, which is an annual event every November. This year, the shower’s peak was expected on the night he took this. David’s lucky shot is even more unusual in that it was taken hours before meteors were expected to be seen that night.

The photo was taken Sunday, Nov. 17th at 5:24 pm.
